It has just been too long since I have blogged my student teaching last! But here I am, finally. The end of the quarter is here and assignments and projects are done. Technically, according to the college, by Winter Break has begun, but I am sticking around LU for the next two weeks to see how we end the year (wow, it really is the end of the year) and transition into 2009.
However, since I have been doing this blog, I have become interested in the blogs that other teachers are putting out there for people to view. So, I wanted to provide links for a couple of other teacher sites that are interesting and/or entertaining reads! Enjoy!
The Dream Teacher: http://thedreamteacher.blogspot.com/
This is a great blog to read! Cindi Rigsbee is a teacher in North Carolina who teaches middle school. She provides a great, and entertaining view, on the middle school child and the benefits of teaching at this grade level. It is a refreshingly positive view on life, school, and middle school students, a grade band that is often discussed with negative connotations.
Unwrapping the Gifted: http://blogs.edweek.org/teachers/unwrapping_the_gifted/
This is a great blog for teachers at all levels to read to learn more about teaching gifted children. So often in teacher education programs the gifted children are left out of the instructional time, and when we enter a general education classroom the pattern often continues because there are so many other pressing matters to deal with on a daily basis. This site is a way for teachers to gain a better insight into teaching gifted students and an idea of what they can do for those students to keep them challenged! No longer will those students fly under the radar.
City Teacher: http://www.cityteacher.net/
This is a great blog, with links to his original blog site post, that talks about teaching in inner city schools. I really enjoy this teacher's blog because he provides a positive outlook on teaching in the inner city and outwardly recognizes that although there will always be challenges and struggles during the day, the students in an inner city can learn, want to learn, and will learn if they are motivated and provided with teachers who are just as eager to learn and pass on the learning to them. A great read for anyone, whether looking into teaching in the inner city or not.
I hope you enjoy reading these blogs, and I will try to continually update the blog sites and add new ones as I find more inspirational teachers out there!
